My Garage is a place to come with any thoughts about anything automotive related. I have been involved with cars and such since the 70’s, and professionally involved since 1978.
I have seen a lot over the years. I find it interesting to chat with others about what I have seen and hearing what their experiences are. I also get people seeking advice, whether it be how to keep their car properly maintained, what their car might be worth, whether they should trade into a different model. My idea here is to create a venue for providing information as well as receiving information.
My interest here is sharing what I have experienced and creating a venue for others to do the same. I hope you find this useful and get involved.
A little bit about me: As you may have guessed, my name is Robb. I own a shop in Post Falls, Idaho and have been in the automotive field for over 40 years. My current business website can be seen here.
I spend a lot of time thinking about cars, considering my history I suppose that is not a great surprise. I have been professionally involved with cars for over 40 years, and my high school years were more focused on the love of the automobile than they probably should have been. At least that’s what my teachers always told me.
I find that there are a lot of people that like to discuss cars, and others that could use a little help understanding the ins and outs of it all. This site is intended to share my thoughts, hear thoughts from others, and offer assistance with anything car related.
I previously was co-owner of a shop in Sandpoint, Idaho which we sold in 2012. At that shop we specialized in Subaru & Toyota, but being a small town, we did service and repairs on all foreign & domestic cars & small trucks. Prior to that I worked at various GM dealerships in Spokane, WA, Kirkland, WA, and Sandpoint, Idaho.
How It Began
My love of cars began as a teenager. My first car was a 1969 GTO. It was very fast and I drove it very hard. I didn’t have enough money to pay for repairs from the abuse I gave that car, so I had no choice to learn how to fix things I broke. My next car was a ’57 Chev that I bought for $75.00, and then proceeded to put every dime I could get my hands on into that car.
Over the years, I have had a lot of cars. My oldest daughter and I rebuilt a ’67 Mustang that she picked out when she was 15 years old. That car was her sixteenth birthday present and she still has that car today.
Cars have changed so much since those teen years. I am not sure if that is good or bad. I find myself longing for ‘the good old days’ at times, but then I think about how those old cars drove and how much gas they used. The newer cars can be very complicated to diagnose.
